The Anne Frank House in Amsterdam is one of the most powerful and moving museums in the Netherlands. Located at the actual hiding place on the Prinsengracht, it tells the story of Anne Frank and her family during the Holocaust.
Your visit begins in the front part of the building, with exhibits on Anne’s life, the Frank family, and the context of the Nazi occupation. You then enter the Secret Annex through a hidden doorway behind a bookcase, where Anne wrote her now-famous diary.
The rooms are preserved in their original, bare condition. In Anne’s room, you can still see the pictures she glued to the walls. Her original diary is on display, along with other writings and belongings.
A modern extension houses exhibitions on discrimination, human rights and remembrance. The Anne Frank House aims not only to preserve history, but also to foster dialogue about freedom and tolerance.
Due to high demand, tickets must be reserved online in advance. Audio guides in multiple languages are available. The museum is mostly wheelchair accessible and includes a shop with books and educational items.
Visiting the Anne Frank House is emotional and enlightening. It reminds us of the fragility of freedom and the power of personal stories. A visit here leaves a lasting impression on all ages.
