Kasteel Doorwerth

Castle Doorwerth is a magnificent medieval castle located on the edge of the Veluwe, near Arnhem. Surrounded by forests, river meadows and scenic trails, it combines natural beauty with rich history and cultural heritage.

The castle dates back to the 13th century and has seen many battles, restorations and transformations throughout the centuries. Heavily damaged during World War II, it has since been meticulously restored and now welcomes visitors in all its historic glory.

Inside, the castle houses three museums: the main castle museum, the Dutch Hunting Museum and Museum Veluwezoom, which features regional art. Visitors can explore the rooms at their own pace or follow an audio tour that brings history to life.

Children will enjoy interactive exhibits, dress-up corners and treasure hunts that turn a visit into an adventure. Outdoors, the castle garden and nearby nature reserve offer space to play, walk and explore.

The on-site café in the former coach house serves drinks and light meals with a beautiful view of the Rhine. Castle Doorwerth is accessible by bike and car, with parking available nearby. Dogs are allowed in the outdoor areas.
